Fellowship Training in Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery

The Brain Tumor Center and Neuroscience Institute at Saint John's Health Center offers a 2-year fellowship in minimally invasive surgery for brain, pituitary and skull base tumors as well cranial nerve and cerebrovascular disorders. Emphasis is placed on endonasaland key-hole surgical approaches, neuro-endoscopy, pituitary tumor management and multi-modality neuro-oncology treatments. The first year of the fellowship is predominantly devoted to anatomical dissections, clinical research and manuscript production. The second year is heavily focused on operative and peri-operative management of patients with brain, pituitary and skull base tumors as well as microvascular decompression for cranial nerve disorders. The fellowship emphasizes clinical and translational research and is integrated into the John Wayne Cancer Institute Surgical Oncology Fellowship (www.jwci.org). Applicants must have completed training in an ACGME-accredited neurosurgical residency program and be eligible for a California medical license.

Observational fellowships are available for non-U.S. citizens for 6 to 12 months.

Applicants should send an initial letter or e-mail of intent and their C.V. to program directors, Daniel F. Kelly, M.D. (kellyd@jwci.org) and Amin Kassam, M.D. (kassama@jwci.org). Complete applications will require at least two letters of recommendation.
