KEY-HOLE SURGICAL APPROACHES:
Retro-sigmoid Craniotomy:
removal of brain and skull base tumors in the posterior fossa and cerebello-pontine angle.
Through an incision behind the ear, a small (2 cm x 3 cm) craniotomy is placed that allows access to the cerebellum, and areas along the side of the cerebellum and brainstem. This approach has been used for many years to reach tumors in this area such as meningiomas, acoustic schwannomas, trigeminal schwannomas and hemangioblastomas.Case Examples
- Acoustic Schwannoma
- Trigeminal Schwannoma
- Meningioma
